Important Update on Bulk Uplift Service

Important Update on Bulk Uplift Service

Knowes Housing Association has seen a significant increase in waste being placed in backcourts for uplift, but due to the large amount of waste (much of which is not bulk items), this service is becoming unsustainable. There is also the risk of vermin in the area when non bulk items are left in the backcourts.

To avoid introducing additional charges, we will now only uplift the items the service was originally intended for, as listed below:

Items we will continue to uplift free of charge:

·        Settees (sofas)

·        Mattresses & bed bases

·        White goods (cookers, fridges, freezers)

Any other items placed in backcourts will not be uplifted. If they are left there, we will charge the resident responsible. If the responsible person cannot be identified, the cost will be shared among all residents in the close. This change will take effect on Thursday the 29th January 2026.

Disposing of Other Items

If you have items that cannot go in general waste bins and are not on the list above, you can dispose of them at West Dunbartonshire Recycling Centres:

·        Erskine Ferry Road Recycling Centre, Old Kilpatrick, G81 5EU

·        Dalmoak Civic Recycling Centre, Renton Rd, Dumbarton, G82 4HQ

(please visit the websites for more details on waste disposal)

You can also arrange a bulk uplift with West Dunbartonshire Council by:
